Getting Used Q & A

Once again on this fine Monday, I am purloining a little Monday Q&A from Kathy B at Compassionknit in Wisconsin. Here goes:

*Can you knit something by “heart?”

Once I get into the rhythm of a pattern, it becomes a little bit by heart. But I really still double check the pattern because sometimes my mind wanders and before I know it, I’m on a different stitch and frogging it back. Continue reading “Getting Used Q & A”

Finito Friday

Finally! A finished knitted object and it only took the ride to and from Sarasota to A Good Yarn to make it happen. It’s The Prophet’s second Lightning Flame Hot Rod hat. Unfortunately, the first one (after of course saying too many times to count not to wash it in the washing machine and dry in the dryer) went through the washer and dryer and shrunk and felted. So knitted version 2 with superwash…combo of Cascade 220 Superwash and Cascade Pacific. Continue reading “Finito Friday”

Purloined Monday Q&A

Once again on this fine Monday, I am purloining a little Monday Q&A from Kathy B at Compassionknit in Wisconsin. Here goes:

*Do you ‘trust’ superwash wool?

So, confession here, although I have purchased quite a bit of superwash yarn, I have never just thrown any hand knit in the washer, and then low temp or cool in the dryer. I’ve only still washed by hand with SOAK. Though whenever I finish The Prophet’s Flame Hot Rod Hat,and  he washes it…that will definitely be a test. Continue reading “Purloined Monday Q&A”

Zig Zaggin’ to the Finish in a Flame Hot Rod

It’s WHIP IT Wednesday time…and a real quick, get in and get out post. I’m exhausted and can barely keep my eyes open.

Working on two future gifts for the Prophet: Flame Hot Rod Hat to replace his last cap (long story more when the hat is finished) and the other, Zig Zagular socks by Susie White. Not sure which will be a Hanukkah gift and the other would be the Prophet’s birthday.

WIP It Wednesday

A short and quick WIP It Wednesday as I truly only made a little bit of progress on the second sock of my male Hermione Every Day sock. Only still have just my i-cord cast-on done for Clue 1 of What the Fade Shawl. Lots of distractions with the just-in-case preparation for Hurricane Irma. Lines at the gas stations are already backed up and most stores are out of water. Thankfully we are stocked up with water, batteries and dry good food items.

#GYST on Labor Day

It has been a nice and leisurely weekend. With the Prophet in for part of the long weekend, we trekked over to Pinellas to visit mom, have lunch, and go to the movies. Somehow everyone agreed to my choice: “The Hitman’s Bodyguard.” Lots of profanity and violence, which ironically, only my DH was uncomfortable. Big fan of Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson…so truly how can you go wrong? Entertaining and some high octane chase scenes. It is what it is and nothing more…just the right choice for an end-of-summer movie.

Fab & Finished Friday

It was down to the wire last night, but I did manage to finish my “Free Your Fade” Shawl for Camp Loopy as well as my third project for PalKal 2017. However, it isn’t blocked yet especially since I wanted to wear to work today. Yes, a wool scarf in Friday sounds a little bit insane but it is like a meat locker in my office, and it works perfectly with jeans for Casual Friday.
